The Japan Steel Works, Ltd. (JSW) manufactures a wide range of rolling stock couplings and draft gears. All of our products have earned the trust and support of our customers due to our high-quality design, materials, and manufacturing capabilities, as well as our stringent quality control. In the future, rolling stock in Japan will need to handle higher speeds and be easier to operate as well as to maintain. JSW is constantly striving to improve the quality and capability of our products while meeting these ever-increasing demands. | Coupler
JSW manufactures a wide range of rotating, knuckle, and fixed couplers that can be fitted to almost any train in Japan. Additionally, our in-house developed automatic tight lock coupler has been in wide use since we first supplied it to Japan National Railways in 1953. One of the main features of our couplers is that they can be connected to generic automatic couplers with a minimum of slack to improve passenger comfort. This is just one reason our couplers are held in such high regard. We can also design and manufacture couplers to meet the various individual needs of our customers. |

| Draft Gear
We have also developed new draft gear geometry for improved passenger comfort. These draft gears are currently used on a wide range of trains, both high-speed bullet trains and conventional trains, both for JR and private railways, and have been very well received. We manufacture a broad spectrum of standard products with various dimensions and maximum loads that can be used on new rolling stock or as replacement parts on existing rolling stock to enhance passenger comfort. |
